Boarding at Waitaki House
A welcoming, supportive home away from home.
Off-site Boarding
Welcome to Waitaki House
Waitaki Girls’ High School offers an off-site boarding option for students through Waitaki House, located within the grounds of Waitaki Boys’ High School.
This arrangement enables students to enjoy the benefits of boarding while continuing to attend Waitaki Girls’ High School each day. Students are supported to remain fully involved in the academic, sporting, cultural and social life of our school.
Excellent Facilities
A Supportive Environment
Waitaki House provides a welcoming and well-supported boarding environment with excellent facilities.
Set within spacious grounds, students have room to relax, be active and enjoy a strong sense of community.
Facilities include recreational areas, a swimming pool and access to the wider school grounds. The location also offers a semi-rural feel, with generous outdoor space and opportunities for students to enjoy an active lifestyle.
Part of the community
Life at Waitaki House
Boarding students are transported between Waitaki House and Waitaki Girls’ High School, ensuring they can participate fully in the school day and in co-curricular activities.
The boarding environment provides students with structure, support and opportunities to develop independence, confidence and lifelong friendships. Experienced staff support students with their wellbeing, routines and study, while maintaining close communication with families.
Waitaki House is an excellent option for students from outside Oamaru who wish to become part of the Waitaki Girls’ High School community.
